Course Details

Making games requires a combination of artistic and technical skills. In this 12-week course, you'll learn to make a treasure chest for video games from start to finish. Including 3D modeling, sculpting, texturing, rigging, animation, shaders, VFX, and in-game implementation in Unreal and Unity.


Each week, you will learn new skills that help you become a more well rounded game developer. The instructor will also provide feedback for your progress as you follow along, making sure you have a clear understanding of the course subjects.


After this course, you'll acquire all the necessary skills to make a wide range of assets that interacts with players in a way that feels satisfying.

What You'll Make

  • A fully animated lootbox with sculptural details and textures


  • VFX for the lootbox idle and opening effect


  • A fully functional lootbox opening sequence that adheres to design requirements for games like Overwatch or Clash Royale

    Learn what type of tasks artists receive from game designers and how your assets can help solve visual and gameplay related issues


  2. Planning A Good Blockout

    Break down the task into stages and learn how to plan for scale, modularity, texel density, optimizations, and intractability


  3. Sculpting for Different Materials

    Master sculpting 3 of the most common materials used in modern games: wood, rock, and metal


  4. Retopology & UV Unwrapping

    Learn how to automate mesh retopology and UV unwrapping the way industry professionals do


  5. Texturing

    Apply textures in substance painter using AAA procedural texturing workflow


  6. Rigging

    Set up clean and organized rig to animate your asset


  7. Animation

    Learn the 3 main stages of animations and how you can apply those principles to make your asset interaction feel juicy


  8. Implementing Your Art Into Unity and Unreal

    Work with design requirements to implement your art and make it serve the purpose of your game


  9. Shaders and Particles for VFX

    Learn to set up Visual FX with particle systems, distortion and UV scrolling shader effects


  10. Finalize AAA Quality Delivery

    Deliver a AAA quality interactive model that is textured, animated, and interactive with visual effects


  11. Present your work

    Put together a portfolio presentation like a pro, showcasing in-depth breakd
